So today's episode of Elizabeth's Baby Food Review is a very special holiday episode. Earlier I took a picture with some of my servants after they prepared a huge feast of solid food for themselves. The one in the purple shirt did most of the cooking and cleaning. They prepared something called "mashed potatoes" and they assure me that it is one of the best parts of this "Thanksgiving" thing they're celebrating.
So these are mashed potatoes? They aren't usually this runny, huh? Yeah, I know you mix it with formula because I don't have teeth and all. Are you sure this is good? I'm a little skeptical, though I am relieved that it isn't some neon color like peas or carrots.
Hmm...interesting texture and taste. Nothing particularly offensive about this taste at all so far.
Say, these mashed potatoes aren't bad at all! I simply must shake your hand for feeding me something that isn't completely repulsive!
Hold on--are these made with European butter? No? That might be a problem...
When you servants watch the Food Network, that smart Alton Brown guy says that European butter is the best and I really don't think I should be made to eat substandard food this early in my life. What's that? European butter has more fat?
Well then, I suppose I'll compromise, but if my palate is ruined I'm going to blame you. These are pretty good, even made with unremarkable butter. Here, let me have that spoon.
*Smack* What do you mean this isn't very lady-like? I have a cloth napkin tucked under my chin and everything. I'll thank you to keep your opinions regarding my table manners to yourself, serf.
I should tell everyone what I'm thankful for? Well, I'm thankful that mashed potatoes aren't terrible like peas or carrots, and I'm thankful that formula and breast milk are still the main staples in my diet. That's all for this special holiday episode of Elizabeth's Baby Food Review, but we'll be back after the holiday with a new food so stay tuned!
Mother's Note: Elizabeth did seem to like the potatoes more than carrots or sweet peas, though she isn't crazy about the texture. She did smack her little lips and she kept opening her mouth for more without being tricked into doing it, so that's a good sign! It will just take a lot more spoon-feeding to get her used to foods with different textures and tastes, and as you can see from the pictures she is wearing more food than she's actually eating, lol!
